Twenty-seven Years of Ink

We started in a leased corner of a foundry building with one refurbished Heidelberg and a used guillotine. The first title was a 400-copy run of regional poetry that nobody else would touch. It sold out in five months.

Oakbend Publishing is now three departments — editorial, prepress and production — but the working principle has not changed. Every manuscript is read by a person. Every job is quoted by the person who will run it. And nothing leaves the bindery that we would not put on our own shelf.

  • Family owned, no outside investors, no acquisition targets
  • FSC-certified stock and soy-based inks as the default specification
  • Quarterly royalty statements, itemised by channel
  • Full prepress in-house — your files never leave the building

How a Book Gets Made

Roughly eight to fourteen weeks from signed contract to pallets on a truck.

01

Read & Quote

You send the manuscript and specs. We read it, price it, and send a fixed quote — usually inside three weeks.

02

Edit & Design

Structural notes first, then copyedit, then interior layout and cover. You approve at each gate.

03

Proof & Press

A bound physical proof ships to you. Once you sign it off, plates go on the press.

04

Bind & Ship

Bindery, shrink-wrap, and either direct-to-warehouse or split shipment to you and the distributor.
